Who We are
Broadway Video is a global entertainment and media company founded by Lorne Michaels. Launched in 1979 in New York’s historic Brill Building, Broadway Video has grown into an independent studio that produces and distributes original comedic content for every platform.
Founder of Broadway Video
Lorne Michaels is an Emmy-Award winning producer and writer, best known as the creator and executive producer of Saturday Night Live. Michaels is also executive producer of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, Portlandia, 30 Rock, and other award-winning television shows and films.
Michaels’ motion picture credits as a producer include Mean Girls, Wayne’s World, Tommy Boy, and Three Amigos (which he produced and co-wrote with Steve Martin and Randy Newman). His most recent film is 2012’s The Guilt Trip, starring Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogen.
Michaels has won 65 Emmys as a writer and producer. He was inducted into the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame in 1999, and, in 2004, he received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. In Canada, he was awarded the Governor General’s Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement in 2006, having been inducted into the Order of Canada in 2002. In 2008, he was named one of Time Magazine’s “Time 100” – a list of the most influential people in the world. In 2013, Michaels received the Distinguished Collaborator Award by the Costume Designers Guild and also earned the rare honor of an individual Peabody Award.
Chief Executive Officer
Jack Sullivan has served as Chief Executive Officer of Broadway Video Entertainment since 2002. Jack joined Broadway Video in 1994. Jack oversees all of Broadway Video’s operations, including the New York based enterprises, production, editorial and ventures divisions and the Los Angeles based primetime television division. Jack began his career as a finance executive for USA Network in New York. He received his juris doctorate degree from Pepperdine University School of Law and his undergraduate degree in business administration from Tulane University.
President of Broadway Video Ventures
David Birnbaum is President of Broadway Video Ventures, the company’s investment vehicle and digital media arm. Prior to BV, David was CEO and co-founder of TAKKLE, Inc., the largest social network for high school sports (acquired by Alloy). Prior to TAKKLE, David was an investment professional at Apax Partners (formerly Patricof & Co. Ventures), and spent several years as an investment banker on Wall Street, helping to create the telecommunications group at Furman Selz, LLC. David received a B.A. from Columbia University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, where he was a Weiss Tech House Fellow. David currently serves on the Boards of Above Average, Inc. (BV’s digital comedy studio), Waggle, Inc. (Leading B2C animal brand), and is an independent board member for Goldman Sachs Investment Partners.
President of Above Average Productions
Jennifer Danielson is President of Above Average, which launched in June 2012. Building the company from the ground up, Above Average is now the premier destination for short-form digital comedy. She began working at Broadway Video for Lorne Michaels in 2001. Her first credit was on the now-iconic film Mean Girls and went on to earn credits on two of Broadway Video’s Peabody Award winning shows: 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live. In October 2016, Jen was named to Variety’s “Power Of Women L.A. Impact Report.” She received her bachelor’s degree from Franklin & Marshall College and her master’s degree from the University of Southern California.
President and Managing Director of Production Services
Stacey Foster, President and Managing Director of Production Services, has worked with Broadway Video since 1981. Stacey has served as Coordinating Producer for Saturday Night Live since 1999. Having joined SNL in 1985, he has overseen all technical aspects of production for the show, as well as for numerous SNL and NBC specials, as well as lending his expertise to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night (working with hosts David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, and Jimmy Fallon), and Mark Burnett’s Survivor. Stacey graduated from Montclair State University and founded PanAVid, Inc., which remains in operation.
Chief Communications Officer
Cristina McGinniss, Chief Communications Officer, coordinates corporate relations, infrastructure, and human resources across Broadway Video’s divisions. Since beginning her career in entertainment as Lorne Michaels’ executive assistant in 1979, she has overseen Post-Production and supervised the expansion of the company’s offices in New York and Los Angeles. Cristina received a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University, and holds an MBA from Fordham University.
Executive Vice President
Kathryn Miller, Executive Vice President, oversees financial planning and reporting for Broadway Video and administrates the Office of the Chairman. She joined Broadway Video in 1984 as Director of Accounting. She previously served as an accounting executive at Kragen and Company while attending the University of California, Los Angeles.
Britta von Schoeler
President of Broadway Video Enterprises
Britta von Schoeler heads Broadway Video Enterprises (BVE) – the division of Broadway Video, Lorne Michaels’ global media and entertainment company, charged with amplifying the company’s portfolio of brands across all media. In her position, von Schoeler helms the strategic planning and implementation of partnerships for Broadway Video Entertainment’s programming library, which includes the NBC Emmy Award-winning sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live, as well as Portlandia, Seth Meyers’ animated series The Awesomes, Man Seeking Woman, and Documentary Now!. In January 2016, von Schoeler launched Más Mejor, BVE’s premium short form digital comedy studio powered by Latino voices. von Schoeler’s efforts extend the reach of the BVE brands globally. Her portfolio of projects ranges from global distribution of traditional media – including the production of new formats – to leveraging Broadway Video’s family of talent and intellectual property for experiential executions such as live tours and exhibits to the creation of product lines. In addition, von Schoeler handles the creation of authentic premium content integrations for top brands. Prior to joining BVE in 2001, von Schoeler worked for BBC Worldwide Americas, Inc. overseeing consumer products production and marketing for numerous popular shows, including Absolutely Fabulous. Her experience also includes serving as Manager for Golden Books Family Entertainment, where she worked on children’s classics such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman. In addition, she was Manager of Business Affairs at Discovery Communications, Inc. She is a graduate of Vassar College.
President of Broadway Video Television
Andrew Singer, President of Broadway Video Television, helps to oversee the company’s development and production deals with NBC Universal and Paramount Pictures. Andrew began his career at Carsey Werner Mandabach. Since arriving at BV in 2003, Andrew has been instrumental in the sale, launch, and production of the company’s primetime series, including the Peabody-winning Portlandia, of which he is an Executive Producer. Andrew has helped build a diverse slate of upcoming series, pilots, and feature films for NBC, Fox, FX, IFC, Hulu, HBO, and Paramount Pictures. Andrew is a member of the Hollywood Radio and Television Society and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He received a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth and a master’s degree from New York University’s Tisch School of Film and Television.
